An advanced university degree in Industrial Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Production Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or another relevant discipline, with at least five years post-qualification experience.
Knowledge of POPs and plastics, especially in the vehicle supply chain (added advantage).
Knowledge of Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs), particularly the Basel and Stockholm Conventions, as well as national laws on vehicular plastic waste management including Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), chemicals regulation and waste governance (required).
Experience in chemical industry project management.
Good critical thinking, problem-solving and planning skills.
A good relationship with private sector industry practitioners.
Good knowledge of material science, particularly plastic materials used in the electronics, automobile and building/construction sectors.
Good teaching and report writing skills, strong written and verbal communication, leadership, analytical, interpersonal and team-building skills, and the ability to liaise with various stakeholders, including government officials.
