Minimum academic qualification
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant business or technical discipline from a recognised university, including but not limited to Actuarial Science or Statistics, Insurance and Risk Management, or Business Administration, Commerce or Finance.
Professional qualifications
A Diploma in Insurance (AIIK or ACII), or active progress towards either qualification.
Membership of the Insurance Institute of Kenya (IIK) or an equivalent professional body (added advantage).
Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant working experience in medical underwriting, health insurance account management, or a closely related role.
Demonstrated experience managing corporate group schemes, including renewal management and client servicing (preferred).
Knowledge
A solid understanding of the insurance industry, with specific knowledge of medical/health insurance products, policy structures and benefit design.
Familiarity with medical loss ratio management, claims analysis and underwriting principles for group medical schemes.
Working knowledge of KYC/AML compliance requirements applicable to insurance in Kenya (IRA guidelines).
An understanding of wellness programme structures and chronic disease management (CDMP) concepts (advantage).
Technical skills
Medical underwriting and risk assessment.
Scheme pricing, benefit configuration and policy administration system proficiency.
Loss ratio analysis and claims trend interpretation.
Financial literacy, including credit management, premium reconciliation and budgeting basics.

Stakeholder management: engaging and influencing across client, intermediary and internal teams.
Analytical thinking: structured, data-driven problem-solving and decision-making.
Accuracy and attention to detail: zero tolerance for errors in policy documents, member data and financial transactions.

Interpersonal and communication skills: clear written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.
Planning and organisation: managing a large, concurrent scheme portfolio against multiple deadlines.
